Content in Rhythm – Publication Design
Students begin by exploring the history and methods of publication design. This is done through the tactile engagement with personally archived design artifacts. They continually examine the processes involved in coordinating art and typography with verbal and visual content though thoughtful observation. One of the intended goals of the 10 week experience is to promote thoughtful and inspired publication solutions which successfully meet the challenges of presenting information in sequential formats both in printed and digital form. They are continually reminded to attend to the stated needs of the content and audience which is established through the writing of a detailed creative brief. Lastly, students develop the accomplished application of synthesized content through structure, style, proportion, contrast, hierarchy, and legibility to produce a clear and engaging user interaction.
